
Steph Russell is a musician, bandleader, composer and vocalist whose sound blends soul, folk, and contemporary jazz.
A ‘Generations in Jazz’ Vocal Scholarship recipient and Sydney Conservatorium of Music graduate, Steph has collaborated with leading Australian and international artists, including Kate Ceberano, Vanessa Amorosi, Paulini, Emma Pask, James Morrison, Jazzmeia Horn and Patti Austin. Regularly performing at venues and festivals across Sydney, Newcastle and beyond, she continues to carve out a distinctive new sound in the national music scene.
Following her acclaimed releases In The Water (2019) and Live at Johnston St Jazz (2024), Steph is now preparing to release a new album of original music in 2026, further cementing her reputation as one of Australia’s most engaging contemporary voices. “I am absolutely stoked and honoured to receive this scholarship! My ongoing relationship with 2MBS Fine Music Sydney will play an important role in supporting the release of my upcoming album of original works and helping to connect my music with engaged Sydney audiences and the wider contemporary jazz music community throughout the coming year.”
