The 50th Anniversary of 2MBS Fine Music Sydney brings with it a fresh new look for our station!
Since the re-introduction of the 2MBS call sign a few years ago, it became apparent that the existing logo was no longer fit for purpose. The emphasis was essentially back-to-front, with ‘2MBS’ playing too small a role, despite that being the way we are to be found on DAB+ (for instance) and a “short hand” way of describing the station. A special 50th Anniversary version has also been created for use around the anniversary period.
The new logo features a bolder, more prominent ‘2MBS’, in a typeface suggestive of tempo markings on a score. The ‘freehand’ musical note motif contrasts with the font of 2MBS and suggests both the movement of a conductor’s baton and the freeform improvisation and style of a jazz performance. It is designed to instantly summarise the style of music which we broadcast.
