Novak Manojlovic is a pianist and composer who has spent the last few years essentially remapping the boundaries of the Australian jazz scene. He’s a central figure in this year’s SIMA’s Jazz:NOW program which isn’t just a concert series, but a living, breathing pulse of where jazz music is heading, with a program which is a masterclass in modern improvisation. To talk about his role and to play some of his musical influences and the music he is featuring as the current Artistic Director of the Sydney Improvised Music Association, Novak is my special studio guest on A Jazz Hour.
