Jazz Jazz On Wednesdays Program Highlights
Mar 30th - Jazz On Wednesdays brings you the magic of world jazz. At noon and 7:00pm, the featured musicians will be the JMO Trio and their 2020 album Dandoula Tala. Jazz Sketches at noon with Robert Vale and Planet Jazz at 7pm with Xavier Bichon. [[JMO Trio are bass clarinetist Jan Galega Bronnimann, kora player Moussa Cissokho, both of West African heritage, and percussionist Omri Hason from Israel. [[The album title is a West African expression that translates as “no boundaries”, and is an apt reference to the album’s music and musicians.

The Cellists of Metropolitan Orchestra will delight in an afternoon of sublime music in Balmain’s charming Town Hall on Sunday afternoon, April 3rd at 3:30pm. Showcased works will include a variety of music from classic masterworks through to re-orchestrated popular hits.

Each Friday, Barry O’Sullivan invites a studio guest onto Friday’s A Jazz Hour at noon. This week’s guest is saxophonist Matthew Ottignon. Not just a saxophone, there are the seven other instruments he plays, as well as the band he leads, Mister Ott.

Nadia Koudasheva is a young Russian-born Australian pianist, musicologist and teacher. She studied at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she completed a Bachelor of Music (Performance), followed by a Doctor of Musical Arts. She has researched, and here performs, piano transcriptions of Bach’s music by Russian and Soviet musicians, the earliest of whom is Ivan Cherlitsky, whose first set of Bach transcriptions was published in 1844-45.
