Classics from Asia

Classics from Asia presents the fine music of Asian civilisations, including practices with their roots in literati, court, folk, and early modern cosmopolitan music-making.

Almost a century after the end of colonialism, the dust of Eurocentric thinking still weighs heavily on many musical minds. Classics from Asia is a new monthly program that focuses on the classic and art music of Asia, and will challenge the attitude that ‘fine music’ is just from the European cultural tradition.
