International Jazz Day is now 15 years strong. Since 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has designated April 30 as International Jazz Day, highlighting jazz and its role of uniting people in all corners of the globe.

It brings together communities, schools, artists, historians, academics, and jazz enthusiasts all over the world to celebrate and learn about jazz and its roots, future and impact; raise awareness of the need for intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding; and reinforce international cooperation and communication.

Each year, this art form is recognized for promoting peace, dialogue among cultures, diversity, and respect for human rights and human dignity; eradicating discrimination; fostering gender equality; and promoting freedom of expression. Jazz relies on people listening to each other!

This Thursday 30th April 2026, listen to our FineJazz programs for an Australian jazz experience:
~ Jazz After Noon with Sue Jowell at noon; and
~ A Jazz Compass with Frank Presley at 7:00pm.

Enjoy our FineJazz crew’s selection of fine Australian Jazz
