I completed Jazz Composition and Jazz Performance short courses at the Sydney Conservatory of Music. I’ve never been a professional jazz musician, but I have played with friends in blues, rock and jazz bands.
I have a long history with music, having started playing in primary and secondary school bands: cornet, trumpet, flugel horn and tenor horn, even conducting the senior school band. Like most, I had piano and guitar lessons and then taught myself to play the flute and saxophone. I have played in and conducted the Macarthur Concert band and played with the Hornsby Concert Band, amateur Jazz Show bands, flute and sax trios and quartets.
I love composing as well as performing and have written music for short films and documentaries. I’ve uploaded a few of my albums to Bandcamp.
I like most types of music, classical music, a big fan of the jazz revival and jazz fusion bands, the rock and blues resurgence of the 60s, 70s and 80s, particularly the “British invasion”.
I’ve always loved going to live gigs and getting carried away by the music and performance, mainly local blues, rock and jazz acts.
I’m really excited about presenting the Friday Jazz Session show and look forward to some great evenings together sharing some fabulous jazz with you.
