Each Friday, Barry O’Sullivan invites a studio guest onto Friday’s A Jazz Hour at noon, this week saxophonist Gai Bryant meets up with Barry. Originally based in Tasmania, she has studied in New York and South Korea, and toured Sweden and Finland.
They will discuss her hugely talented Cuban and Latino ensemble Caribé, and her busy performance and recording schedule. The music on their latest release, Distant Waters, has much in common with contemporary jazz in composition and performance, blending Latin and jazz musicians and culture, enhanced with the very personal and distinctive sounds of the individual members of the group.
