Each Friday, Barry O’Sullivan invites a studio guest onto Friday’s A Jazz Hour at noon, this week Barry welcomes Australian classical and jazz composer and pianist, Mark Isaacs.
Hailed by the Los Angeles Times as a “splendid musical mind”, he has achieved widespread international recognition. Nominated for two ARIA Best Jazz awards, he has also composed over 100 works for concert hall, as well as for film, television and theatre.
With legendary British jazz guitarist Ike Isaacs for an uncle, he met and jammed with the likes of Stephane Grappelli, Duke Ellington, George Benson and Joe Pass. He recently performed an entirely improvised original piece for broadcast on the 2MBS Fine Music Showcase.
