Jazz on Wednesdays brings you the magic of world jazz.  On Wednesday the 8th, the feature artist will be the UK trumpeter Neil Yates & his album Five Countries.

A long time educator and usually heard in big bands, Yates has composed an album of folk-tinged jazz, referencing multiple elements of nature.

Yates’ several horn instruments are complemented by the classical guitar of Hungarian Zsolt Bende, and the bodhran and cajon drums of Irishman Cormac Byrne  – an unusual trio that is very effective.

Listen to Jazz Sketches at noon with Robert Vale, and Planet Jazz at 7pm with Xavier Bichon.
