Mar 30th – Jazz On Wednesdays brings you the magic of world jazz. At noon and 7:00pm, the featured musicians will be the JMO Trio and their 2020 album Dandoula Tala. Jazz Sketches at noon with Robert Vale and Planet Jazz at 7pm with Xavier Bichon.
JMO Trio are bass clarinetist Jan Galega Bronnimann, kora player Moussa Cissokho, both of West African heritage, and percussionist Omri Hason from Israel.
The album title is a West African expression that translates as “no boundaries”, and is an apt reference to the album’s music and musicians. While the music is newly composed by trio members, it has a traditional African flavor. Cissokho’s harp-like kora carries the melodies and is framed by Bronniman’s swirling clarinet & Hason’s varied percussions.
