The magic of a world of world jazz; that’s Jazz-on Wednesdays. At noon and 7pm, Wednesdays feature is the Eishan Ensemble’s Project Masnavi, a new album dedicated to the poetry & songs of the widely-travelled 13th-century Persian mystic and Sufi master, Jalal ad -Din Muhammad Rumi. The album title refers to Rumi’s spiritual epic of the same name.
The Eishan Ensemble is seven Sydney musicians, led by founder, Iranian born Hamed Sadeghi who plays the Tar. This is an eleven string lute. The Ensemble’s music is a fusion of jazz & traditional Persian music.
On Wednesday 27th October selections from Project Masnavi will be played on Robert Vale’s Jazz Sketches at 12 noon & at 7pm on Xavier Bichon’s Planet Jazz.
