The 2MBS Fine Music Sydney Artist in Residence Mosaic is truly on the rise! Their latest album Where We Are Now has secured an impressive spot in the top five of the 100% Independent Albums chart, currently at number four alongside award-winning Casey Chambers.
Additionally, they’re making waves on the ARIA charts, landing at number two in the Top 20 Jazz & Blues Albums for the week of October 21, 2024.
These remarkable achievements highlight Mosaic’s growing influence and talent in the Australian jazz scene.

The 2MBS Fine Music Sydney Artist in Residence program is designed to support Sydney jazz ensembles with active promotion and provide extensive rehearsal opportunities. This year’s award went to a young 10-piece jazz ensemble the Mosaic Jazz Collective.
Mosaic Jazz Collective emerged from a Sydney Conservatorium workshop, taking inspiration from the Australian jazz heavyweights. It is made up of tenor saxophones and clarinets, trumpets and flugelhorns, drums and bass, with the co-leaders Lee Orszaczky, Chiara Minotto and Ravi Trachtenberg-Ray playing trombone, baritone sax and piano respectively.

Their focus is on original Australian compositions with deliberate emphasis on new material from women composers, and challenge the stereotype of old male jazz musicians, including the gender and racially diverse, and people with disabilities.
