Rockdale Opera presents Patience, or Bunthorne’s Bride, Gilbert & Sullivan‘s witty satire on the aesthetic movement of the late Victorian period. Featuring memorable music, lovesick maidens, pompous dragoon guards and velvet-clad posturing poets, this fully staged production brims with wit, charm and joyful absurdity. The opera follows the earnest milkmaid Patience, as she navigates the course of ‘unselfish love’ between Bunthorne, a ‘fleshly’ poet and Grosvenor, an ‘idyllic’ poet.
Packed with clever lyrics, jaunty tunes, and G&S’s trademark sparkle, this comic gem showcases a talented cast and promises laughter and deliciously over-the-top fun.
