Stephen Wilson began his career in broadcasting as a trainee technician in Adelaide with the former PMGs Department, which at that time provided technical services for ABC radio. He later joined the Australian Broadcasting Control Board, spending 10 years in Hobart as State Representative.
Towards the end of his time there, he presented classical music programs on the community broadcasting station 7CAE-FM.
A policy role with the Department of Posts and Telecommunications brought him to Sydney where he later worked in a senior executive role with the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal.
Itchy feed led him to join the staff of WIN-TV Wollongong in a senior management role. However, Sydney called once more, and he ‘retired’ into a hardware store which he owned and operated for 10 years.
In 2007, having sold the business, his love of broadcasting and classical music took him to 2MBS, initially as librarian, and later as presenter. He’s served on the Board and the Presenters’ Committee and is a member of the Technical Committee – the wheel having turned the full circle.
