The Australian Haydn Ensemble (AHE) has established itself as one of Australia’s leading period-instrument groups, specialising in the repertoire of the late Baroque and early Classical eras. It takes its name from the great Joseph Haydn, a leading composer of the late 18th-century.

Beethoven and Mozart’s masterworks spring to life in a whole new way with historical chamber arrangements for septet. William Watts’ arrangement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 brings startling clarity to a warm and witty symphony, bursting with energy. And then there’s Mozart’s ‘Haffner’ Symphony, arranged by Cimador. Written in a whirlwind of deadlines, weddings and house-moving, Mozart famously forgot he’d composed it at all – only to later discover it was rather good. Elegance, invention and emotional depth as seven superb period musicians create a fourth to be reckoned with.
