Rockdale Opera Company presents Verdi’s timeless classic, La Traviata.
Set against the stylish backdrop of 1920s New York, this new staging captures the glamour and grit of the era while remaining true to Verdi’s powerful music and tragic story.
It follows the ardent but doomed love affair of Violetta, a high-class courtesan and Alfredo, the wealthy son of an influential and powerful family.
From the hedonism of Act 1, with its joyous “Brindisi”, to Violetta’s inevitable heartbreak, La Traviata continues to be one of the world’s most-beloved operas, for good reason – passionate and emotional music, glittering settings and a story that tugs at the heart.
