Bach Akademie Australia’s upcoming program, The Art of Violin, celebrates the brilliance of the Baroque violin concerto. Featuring masterworks by Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann, Handel, and Leclair, this dazzling program promises an unforgettable journey through the golden age of Baroque string artistry.

Building on a collaboration that commenced two years ago, Sydney’s The Marais Project and Perth-based early music specialists, HIP Company, turn their attention to the elegance and sophistication of the French Baroque.

The Choir of Christ Church St Laurence is one of the oldest continuing choral groups in Australia and was founded shortly after the consecration of the Church in 1845. It performs an extensive repertoire incorporating music from Gregorian chant.

Elena Kats Chernin’s third piano concerto is now out on CD and it’s a cracker. Like several other tracks on this disk, it’s a kind of tribute to one of Kats Chernin’s original inspirations, the little-known first wife of JS Bach, Maria Barbara, who died at the age of 36.

2MBS presents the world premiere recordings of two major works by renowned composer Elena Kats-Chernin: Ancient Letters, inspired by 1,700-year-old writings from the Silk Road, and Lebewohl, her third piano concerto, composed especially for celebrated Australian pianist Tamara-Anna Cislowska.
